My favorite 4-day weekend ideas around JBLM

As someone who’s been stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and experienced the PCS whirlwind firsthand, I know how challenging it can be to juggle military life and family time. But one thing I’ve come to love about living here is how the Pacific Northwest makes it so easy to reconnect with your loved ones. There’s something special about stepping away from the grind, packing up the car, and heading out to explore the incredible landscapes and adventures this region offers.

Whether it’s a sunny day at the coast, a snowy mountain retreat, or a casual weekend exploring local gems, the PNW has something for every family and every season. Those 4-day weekends are the perfect excuse to slow down, have some fun, and create memories that will keep you grounded between deployments or long training rotations.

In this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favorite summer, winter, and year-round activities that my family and I have enjoyed, along with a few destinations on my bucket list. I hope this inspires you to make the most of your well-deserved time off and fall in love with everything this beautiful area has to offer.
